Margaritas — simple, yet so delicious. Combine tequila, triple sec and fresh-squeezed lime juice — and you have the perfect combination to make any mama do the happy dance.
The 3 Must Try Margaritas in Nosara list was by far one of the hardest to narrow down. Almost every restaurant in Nosara offers at least one margarita (although most have multiple variations), but the three restaurants listed below shined a little above the rest.
I hope this list leaves you feeling prepared the next time you’re out on the Nosara margarita-tasting battlefield.
Passion Fruit Margarita @ The Harmony Hotel
The Harmony Bar is no secret to the locals in town. Its drink menu is full of creative concoctions from the infused homegrown ginger vodka cocktails to the tropical sangria. But one of my favorite cocktails at The Harmony is the Passion Fruit Margarita.
The combination of passion fruit and lime triggered fond memories of my favorite pregnancy-craving pastime — sour patch kids — slightly sweet and tart at the same time. Passion fruit is also local to Costa Rica, so fresh squeezed juice in each margarita is a given.
Now you won’t find this margarita on their cocktail menu, but, it won’t be any surprise to the bartenders. We asked around, and The Passion Fruit Margarita is a favorite cocktail among many locals.
The Classic @ La Negra
There are many things La Negra is known for: Thursday night chicken, an ever-changing, tasty menu and margaritas. Whether you order a margarita during busy evening festivities or during lunch (don’t judge – you know you’ve been there 😉), you can always expect multiple fresh limes hand-squeezed right into your cocktail.
My good-to margarita is always a classic: some sort of silver tequila, triple sec and fresh lime juice. La Negra perfects that classic by intensely hand shaking the drink and delivering a frothy glass of deliciousness with a smile.
Anything With Tequila @ El Chivo
El Chivo knows mexican food…and margaritas! And it gets even better — they have a playground inside the restaurant. That’s right. You can enjoy your refreshing margarita while your little ones play. Did I just hear a Hallelujah?!
El Chivo’s tequila selection is impressive. They have over 30 tequilas listed on the menu, not including over 10 different Mezcals. You may just find yourself sipping on a chilled glass of blanco, but if you opt for a margarita, you can’t go wrong. My favorite is the classic Margarita, but if you’re looking to spice things up — literally and figuratively — the Jalapeno Margarita is oh, so delicious. Just be warned…this classic margarita infused with jalapeños is not for the faint of heart.
